What serum should I use with LED light therapy?

When pairing a serum with your LED Light Therapy routine, reach for a formula designed to complement and enhance your results. Our LightBoost™ Skincare Topicals are specially created to work hand-in-hand with Light Therapy, supporting your skin’s natural glow and radiance while boosting the effects of any Light Therapy device, not just our own.

What is an LED light therapy facial?

An LED Light Therapy facial is a treatment that uses gentle, targeted LED (light emitting diode) lights to visibly rejuvenate your skin and address a range of concerns. Devices like the Wrinkle Retreat™ Light Therapy Mask deliver Light Therapy, this mask using Red Light Therapy and Near-Infrared Light Therapy, to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, smooth the look of wrinkles, and support a brighter, more radiant-looking complexion. This non-invasive facial is safe, easy to use at home, and fits seamlessly into your routine, giving you a refreshed, luminous look without downtime.

How often can you use LED light therapy?

For best results, it is recommended to use LED light therapy 3-5 times per week. It's important to give your skin a chance to rest and repair itself in between LED light therapy treatments. If your skin reacts well to the treatment, we recommend using LED therapy tools like Solawave no more than once per day.

Is LED light therapy safe for your face?

LED Light Therapy is generally safe and effective for most people and skin types when used as directed.

Light Therapy is not typically recommended if you are under 22, pregnant, breastfeeding, have active cancer or cancerous lesions, severe skin conditions like severe acne, or disorders involving photosensitivity. Avoid use if you are taking photosensitizing medications, experience light-induced headaches, have a known allergy to silicone or plastics, or have had a sunburn within the past two weeks.

Always use the mask only on normal, healthy, intact skin. Do not use it over cancerous lesions, swollen or infected areas, inflamed skin, or areas lacking normal sensation. If you have medical concerns, a history of seizures, recent facial surgery, fever, acute inflammation, severe circulatory disorders, or light sensitivity, consult your healthcare provider before use.

For adult use only—keep out of reach of children. Always read the instruction manual and review the full list of warnings, contraindications, and precautions before starting your treatment. If you experience any discomfort, skin irritation, or other adverse reactions, stop using the device and consult your health professional.

This device is FDA-cleared for treating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It is not intended to diagnose, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Always consult a qualified health professional for any medical concerns.

Is LED light therapy safe while pregnant?

LED Light Therapy is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should avoid using Light Therapy devices before consulting with your healthcare provider about starting any new skincare treatments during this time.

How much does LED light therapy cost?

The cost of LED light therapy devices varies depending on the treatment. A single LED light therapy session can range from $50-$250. However, many spas and medspas offer package deals that can save you money in the long run. How much you pay for LED light therapy will also depend on the location of the treatment. Skincare devices like Solawave allow you to access this technology at-home for a fraction of the cost.

Is LED light therapy safe for sensitive skin?

Yes, LED light therapy is generally safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to start with fewer, shorter sessions and increase as your skin becomes more accustomed to the treatment. You should limit use to 2-3 times per week until you feel comfortable with your skin's reaction to light therapy.

How long does LED light therapy take to work?

You may start to notice visible changes in your skin’s appearance after just a few sessions of LED Light Therapy, but most people see more significant improvements like smoother-looking skin and a brighter, more radiant-looking complexion after 4 to 6 weeks of consistent use. Sticking with a regular routine is key to maintaining and enhancing your results.

What are the different types of LED light therapy and their benefits?

LED Light Therapy uses different wavelengths of light to target specific skin concerns and support a healthier-looking complexion. Here’s a look at the main types of LED Light Therapy and their benefits:

  • Red Light Therapy: Red Light Therapy targets visible signs of skin aging, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting skin rejuvenation for a smoother, more refreshed look.

  • Near-Infrared Light Therapy: Near-Infrared Light Therapy visibly rejuvenates the appearance of skin and supports its overall radiance, giving your complexion a luminous, glowy finish.

  • Amber Light Therapy: Amber Light Therapy helps improve the look of uneven skin tone and reduces the appearance of puffiness, leaving your skin looking more balanced and depuffed.

  • Blue Light Therapy: Blue Light Therapy destroys acne-causing bacteria and helps deter future pimples by reducing sebum (oil) production, supporting a clearer, healthier-looking complexion.

Each type of Light Therapy can be used alone or combined to upgrade your skincare routine and help your skin look its best.
