The Good Face Project has partnered with SolaWave to perform a month-long consumer perception study. The objective of the consumer testing is to evaluate and compare the appeal and effectiveness of SolaWave Wand and Serum in a 50/50 panel split test at three timepoints: Day 1, Day 14, and Day 30, and provide feedback to the company. Over the 30-day period, the participant will use the product and take an online self-assessment questionnaire after Day 1, Day 14, and Day 30. In addition to the online self-assessments, each participant provided testimonials describing the overall experience with the product and product packaging.

  1. STUDY SUMMARY 

    • Number of Participants: 60

    • Age Group: 25 - 60 years old

    • Panelist Recruitment: Panelists were screened and recruited from the Good Face App to ensure they are qualified for the study. Panelists were divided into 2 groups to conduct a split test:

      • Group A tested the wand

      • Group B tested the wand with the Renew Complex Serum

    • The study did not intend to examine skin concerns in any specific race or ethnicity, therefore participants included in the subject represented any race/ethnicity. The subjects were recruited from all races/ethnicities/skin types/skin conditions to the extent possible.

    • The study made every attempt to ensure adequate representation of each minority/ethnic group.

    • Selected participants read a list of product ingredients in order to decline participation if they are allergic, or suspect that they are allergic to any of the ingredients. No allergic reactions have been reported to the Good Face Project as of the date of this report.

    • There were no severe adverse reactions reported by the participants as of the date of this report.

    • Duration of the study: 30 days

    • Online subjective assessment. Questionnaires were given to the subjects at Day 1, Day 14, and Day 30 of the study to evaluate the benefits and overall user experience of the panelists. The following were the product claims (statements) validated with participants:

      GROUP A – WAND ONLY

    • Participants agreed with the terms and signed a written Informed Consent/Agreement for the study.

    • This study was conducted in compliance with the CFR Title 21, Part 50 (informed Consent of Human Subjects). Informed Consent was electronically obtained from each subject in the study and documented in writing before participation in the study.

  2. DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCT:

    Group A: each panelist received a SolaWave Wand and a printed protocol; Group B: one month’s supply of the Renew Complex Serum, a SolaWave Wand and printed protocols were shipped to each panelist via The Good Face Project’s 3PL partner.

  3. STUDY PROTOCOL: The following were the protocols which panelists were required to follow during the study.

    GROUP A

    SolaWave Red Light Wand

    Usage:

    We recommend starting out at 5 minutes per day for the first few days. As your skin acclimates, you can sue it for longer and as frequently as desired for up to 30 minutes per day.

    To use your SolaWave Wand, start with a clean, dry face. For best results, use the SolaWave Wand on hydrated skin. To achieve hydration, pair with an activating serum or any facial mist, moisturizer, serum of your choosing. The treatment area should feel wet. Reapply if the product dries prior to completing your treatment.

    SolaWave uses smart-touch activation, so, to turn your wand on and off, simply place the head of the wand against the skin of the face to turn on, and remove it to turn off. When using the wand, glide across your face in an upward and outward movement.

    Product Warnings: The SolaWave Wand is designed for cosmetic use only and for individuals in good health. For adult use only, keep out of reach of children. Out of an abundance of caution, we do not recommend using the SolaWave Wand if you have an active or recent cancer diagnosis, have a pacemaker (or other implanted metal in your body), or are pregnant.

    Surveys:

    Surveys will be distributed by The Good Face Project via e-mail on Day 0, Day 13, and Day 29. Please answer each question by end of Day 1, Day 14, and Day 30. Any missing survey responses will be considered deviation from the study protocol and will disqualify you from further panel participation and your participation rewards will be retracted.

    Adverse Events:

    If you experience a negative reaction or adverse event to the product(s), immediately discontinue use and contact the study sponsor. Contact information on page 1.

    Cancellation:

    If you are no longer able to participate in the study, we ask that you please allow for a 24hr cancellation notice prior to study start date. If needed, contact the study sponsor. Contact information on page 1.

    GROUP B

    Products in your Expert Panel package:

    SolaWave Red Light Wand and Renew Complex Serum

    Usage:

    To use your SolaWave Wand, start with a clean, dry face. For best results, use the SolaWave Wand on hydrated skin. Apply a generous layer of the SolaWave Renew Complex Serum to the face. If at any time the serum dries out or becomes less lubricated, simply reapply the serum to the skin or apply the serum section-by-section to the face during your SolaWave session.

    SolaWave uses smart-touch activation, so, to turn your wand on and off, simply place the head of the wand against the skin of the face to turn on, and remove it to turn off. When using the wand, glide across your face in an upward and outward movement.

  4. PARTICIPANT CONSENT AND PRIVACY

    The purpose of the study was to collect information concerning the Participant’s use of Company Products, aggregate such information, and disclose the information to Company. The Good Face Project shall preserve and protect each Participant’s last name, address, email address or other Personally Identifiable Information.

    The Good Face Project interacted confidentially with panelists. In addition, panelist survey responses and testimonials were reported without disclosing panelist identities.

     

    Study participants acknowledged consent to the study terms outlined in the form included directly below.

    In this Participant Agreement (“Agreement”), the undersigned individual (the “Participant”) agrees to participate in a study of the use of a third party (the “Brand”) beauty product(s) (the “Product(s)”) as conducted by The Good Face Project (“Good Face”) (the “Study”) for a period of one (1) month (the “Study Period”) under the following terms and conditions:

    1. Participant Duties.

      1. During the Study Period, Participant shall: i) use and apply designated Brand products under protocol and usage instructions as may be provided by Good Face, ii) participate in three (3) surveys with respect to such products on or about Day 1, Day 14, Day 30 of the Study Period, and iii) write one (1) testimonial about the overall experience of using the Brand products. Participant’s survey responses, provided photographs, testimonial and any other information provided by Participant in relationship to the Study shall be referred to herein as “Submissions.”

      2. Participant shall use and review the Brand products in good faith, and shall provide all Submissions in an honest and factual manner, and will receive the study participation incentive upon completion of all Submissions.

    2. Participant Incentive.

      1. During the Study Period, Participant shall receive, free of charge, sufficient amounts of the Brand’s product(s) in order to implement the study protocol and usage instructions as provided by Good Face.

      2. Participant shall receive a one-time study participation incentive of $30 Amazon Gift Card upon completion of all Submissions.

    3. Consents

      1. Collection of Information. Participant hereby agrees that as part of the study Good Face may collect information concerning the Participant’s use of the Brand products, aggregate such information, and disclose the information to the Brand; and Participant expressly consents to the foregoing.

      2. Ownership of Submissions. Participant freely grants and assigns to the Brand all worldwide rights in perpetuity to own, reproduce, distribute, perform, make derivative works of, utilize and/or alter the Submissions in any manner and for any purpose, in all media now known or later invented.

      3. Promotions. Participant further grants Good Face all rights to use the Participant’s first name, age, photographs and other Submissions in any manner including without limitation analysis, development, advertising, publicity, public displays, social media, websites, apps, platforms, and exhibitions (“Promotions”) upon completion of the Study.

    4. Privacy

      1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein and for the avoidance of doubt, Participant expressly withholds consent for Good Face or Brand to use Participant’s last name, address, email address or other Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") in any Promotions. Good Face agrees that it shall preserve and protect Participant’s anonymity, and will not publicly link any Participant’s responses pursuant to the Study to the Participant’s identity.

      2. Participant waives all present or future claims in law or equity against Good Face or the Brand for libel, slander, invasion of privacy, copyright or trademark violation, moral rights, right of publicity, rights of privacy or false light arising out of Good Face’s or the Brand’s use of the Submissions. Participant waives any rights to inspect and/or approve such use of the Submissions or any Promotions. Participant agrees that this waiver of privacy rights constitutes a valid consent to the uses hereunder of any PII or personal data as may be required under any applicable data protection laws including without limitation the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") and the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").

    5. Warranties, Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

      1. Participant represents and warrants that it knows of no consent that is required of any other person or entity with respect to this release of the Submissions, and that use of the Submissions as contemplated hereunder will not

        violate the rights of any third parties. Nothing in this Agreement requires that Good Face or the Brand must use any of the Submissions for any purpose.

      2. GOOD FACE AND/OR THE BRAND MAKE NO WARRANTYHEREIN WITH RESPECT TO THE BRAND PRODUCTS, AND DISCLAIMS ALL SUCH WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. GOOD FACE AND/OR THE BRAND DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PRODUCTS WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULTS OR IN ANY WAY IMPROVE PARTICIPANT’S APPEARANCE.

      3. IN NO EVENT WILL GOOD FACE AND OR THE BRAND BE LIABLE TO PARTICIPANT FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER INCLUDING ALL DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, RELIANCE, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFIT OR GOODWILL, FOR ANY MATTER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT OR ITS SUBJECT MATTER, WHETHER SUCH LIABILITY IS ASSERTED ON THE BASIS OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE EVEN IF THE PARTY WITH ALLEGED LIABILITY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

    6. Governing Law and Venue.

    This Agreement will be construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of California, including its recognition of applicable federal law, but excluding such jurisdiction’s choice of law rules, and the parties’ consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of state and federal courts in the State of California.

     

  5. PARTICIPANT COMPLIANCE

    The study was completed on schedule by fifty nine (59) out of sixty (60) panelists. One (1) participant from Group A became irresponsive after Day 1 survey; no participants discontinued the study due to adverse effects.

     

  6. SURVEY RESULTS

The data was collected by an online submission process of the questionnaire, reviews/testimonials on Day 1, Day 14, and Day 30 of testing the product.
